Trains towards Leeds

NORTHERN ALL-STOPS SERVICE IS NOT OPERATING DURING THE DECEMBER 2025 - MAY 2026 TIMETABLE
(with a small number of exceptions, very early morning and late evening)

☉ Huddersfield
˧ Deighton (Temporarily closed, bus from Huddersfield/Brighouse)
☉ Mirfield (Reachable by TPE service, only hourly)
˧ Ravensthorpe (Temporarily closed, bus from Dewsbury)
☉ Dewsbury (Reachable by TPE service, only two per hour)
 ˧ Batley
 ˧ Morley
 ˧ Cottingley
☉ Leeds (Regular express services)

DURING STATION IMPROVEMENTS AT HUDDERSFIELD THERE ARE TEMPORARY SERVICES IN PLACE OF THE USUAL HUDDERSFIELD - LEEDS STOPPING SERVICE (ABOVE) WHICH WILL INVOLVE A CHANGE OF TRAIN OR FROM REPLACEMENT BUS TO TRAIN AT NEARLY ALL TIMES OF DAY.

Passengers for some of these stations will need to make a change to another service, either the Northern Calder Valley line service (Wigan - Leeds, not Sundays) or a Northern diversion service operating as follows:
Bradford Interchange - Low Moor - Halifax - Brighouse - Mirfield - Dewsbury - Batley - Morley - Cottingley - Leeds (Only from Halifax on Sundays)

Deighton is temporarily closed until 2027 and served only by bus replacements on a Huddersfield - Deighton - Brighouse route.

Mirfield still has a direct service from Huddersfield, but only hourly, as a stop on the Manchester Piccadilly - York via Wakefield service.

Ravensthorpe closes from the new timetable with replacement buses from Dewsbury.

Dewsbury has a direct service from Huddersfield as a stop for TransPennine Express services to Redcar Central and Scarborough, approximately half an hour apart. The lack of the stopping service trains means there are currently only these two trains and not three trains per hour from Huddersfield.

Batley and Morley can be reached on outward journeys from Huddersfield by changing from the half-hourly express trains at Dewsbury outbound, while inbound the quickest half-hourly options alternate between Dewsbury and Mirfield.

Cottingley can be reached hourly through a change at Dewsbury.

Leeds is normally reached by one of four express trains per hour. Trains to Newcastle and Hull generally run non-stop while trains to Redcar or Scarborough stop at Dewsbury.

The new timetable has additional non-stop journeys between Huddersfield and Leeds at peak times as the additional trains which ran between Manchester Piccadilly and stops including Marsden and Slaithwaite to Huddersfield (to provide a train between the regular hourly service to York via Wakefield) will now continue non-stop from Huddersfield to Leeds.

Journeys to some stations along this route will have extended journey times due to the additional changes and the route will also face various levels of other disruption due to engineering work during the Trans-Pennine Route Upgrade when Huddersfield station is closed, when lines between Huddersfield and Dewsbury are closed or when lines between Ravensthorpe and Leeds are closed. This disruption will come as early as Christmas 2025 when the line between Huddersfield and Dewsbury is closed for work at Mirfield station.

PLEASE NOTE: This travel study is provided for basic guidance and principally indicates the general daytime pattern of Monday to Saturday trains. We recommend checking your route on journey planners before travelling, particularly in the evening and on Sundays or when services are disrupted by engineering work or strikes.
