Stadium

The Accu Stadium, HuddersfieldHuddersfield's stadium gained awards for its design after it opened in 1994 near to the town's former Leeds Road ground.

Named the Kirklees Stadium in its planning stages, it has since had name changes to the Alfred McAlpine Stadium, the Galpharm Stadium, the John Smith's Stadium and now the Accu Stadium.

It hosts the soccer matches of Huddersfield Town and the rugby league games of Huddersfield Giants. Huddersfield Town play in League One and were most recently in the Premier League for two seasons between 2017 and 2019. Huddersfield Giants play in the Super League.

Plans are under way for the new The HD One development adjoining the stadium, promising a ski slope, bowling, trampolining, sporting activities, restaurants and a hotel on sites mostly covering existing car parks. See The HD One  Website.

The stadium is just under a mile's walk from Huddersfield railway station in the town centre offering trains linking to all destinations. See our rail travel page.

There are bus stops in Leeds Road just a few hundred metres from the stadium for the following routes:

202 Huddersfield bus station - Mirfield - Dewsbury - Leeds
203 Huddersfield bus station - Mirfield - Dewsbury - Leeds
229 Huddersfield bus station - Heckmondwike - Batley - Leeds
