Hade Edge
The village shares a moorland ridge with the Boshaw Whams Reservoir between the valleys of the River Ribble and Dean Dike.
Hade Edge originally grew as a hamlet around a Methodist chapel and Sunday School, providing a central place on Daisy Lee Moor for many isolated farms and local quarry workers.
A school opened in 1882 and for a time Hade Edge had a Co-op, post office and several pubs. All of these have been long closed with the exception of one pub.
Hade Edge saw growth into a larger village community in the 1980s and 1990s with a large increase in housing in the village.
The largest industry in the immediate area is the Longley Farm dairy of J and E Dickinson, just below Hade Edge village, which is well-known for its range of yogurts, cream, soft cheese and butter.
Hade Edge Band, which can trace its history back to 1908, rehearses at its purpose-built band room, opened in 2007, at Greave Road.
